Quarterly Update: October 2026

Ward One Picnic and Information Day

I hosted a Ward One Picnic and Information event under the shelter at Moraine Park on August 17th.

A key to this event was the information to better connect residents with businesses, resources and information.

Many elected and appointed officials from Twinsburg and the County were in attendance. All candidates for the State Legislature were invited.

Summit County Council Person Rita Darrow was there with information from a number of county offices and agencies, including information to assist with property tax, the Prosecutor's Office and County Engineer.

Issue 38

This year, the Best Family was there to explain Zoning Issue 38.

Candidates for State Legislatures:

Building relationships with our elected officials at every level of government is important, so Twinsburg's needs remain on their radar.

Three of the four candidates took time out of their schedules to attend and engage with our community:

  • Samantha Salamon - Candidate for Ohio House District 35

  • Vik Sandhu - Candidate for Ohio House District 35

  • Mike Roberto - Candidate for Ohio State Senate District 27

Long story short, I'm committed to working with whoever wins…

The library was there promoting their programs and two businesses Jungle Driving School and Tanisha Taylor Coaching

Mayor Sam Scaffide and Council Person Shaun Castillo were also there connecting with residents, as were members of the Parks and Recreation and the Environmental Commission.

Twinsburg  Police Departments and Twinsburg CERT were there to connect with residents and share updates about their programs and show off some of their equipment.

School Supplies:

50 back to school kits were available for Ward One’s learners.

I am incredibly thankful to all who helped make the day a success.  By participating, sharing and attending you helped make Twinsburg a better community.  I’ve already started planning the 2027 Ward One Picnic and Information Day and look forward to making next year’s event even better.

Other events I attended

TwinsDays

2026 marked the 51st TwinsDays event, and it was as fun as ever. This year we passed out over 50 lbs of candy along the parade route.

2026 Senior Carnival

Twinsburg’s Suicide Prevention and Awareness Event

I worked with Tim Hauser, Veteran Advocate and The Veterans Assurance Network to plan and execute Twinsburg's Suicide Prevention and Awareness Program. The event included live music, advocacy groups, mental health information, a memorial walk, art activities, food and beverage. The event kicked off with a 22mile bike ride.

If you're having thoughts of suicide, help is available. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You are not alone, and support is available 24/7.

Thanks to all who supported this especially the students at Dodge for their amazing artwork and the PTA for displaying their work along the trail.

Twinsburg Fire Training

Twinsburg Fire Department executed a controlled burn training on September 24. I watched as every member of the FD trained in a “real” burning building. Over 30 burns were conducted. Fire and EMS services to the city and township were uninterrupted.

Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest was a huge success. Most of the day I was a greeter and later in the evening I my duties changed. It was a full day of great entertainment, excellent food and a lot of fun. Prost!

State of the Akron Zoo

On September 17th, I attended the Akron Zoo's State of the Zoo!

I learned that the zoo has more people visiting the zoo than live in Summit County.  The Akron Zoo is expanding and will soon be opening a state-of-the-art veterinary care center and a world-class giraffe exhibit where guests will be able to stand eye to eye and feed a giraffe.

Leaf collection:

Twinsburg’s leaf collection program will begin in mid-October and continue through December, weather permitting. To help us serve you better and keep our neighborhoods looking their best, here are a few helpful guidelines for a smooth and efficient leaf collection:

  • Pile Your Leaves Properly: Please place your leaves in long, narrow piles parallel to the roadway. This makes collection easier and quicker!

  • LEAVES ONLY, Please: Make sure your piles contain only leaves—no grass clippings, ornamental grasses, perennials, or other garden debris.

  • Keep Piles Clean of Debris: To protect our equipment and keep the collection process running smoothly, please ensure your piles are free of branches, trash, dirt, construction materials, metal, nails, wire, or any other debris.

  • Please do not place your piles in the street, over storm drains, or in cul-de-sac islands.

Infrastructure update:

Streetscape

The streetscape establishes a long-term vision for the appearance and design of our downtown streets and public spaces. The emphasis is on improvements that will help create a more attractive, walkable, and welcoming downtown.

Help Shape the Future of Parks and Recreation in Twinsburg:

Twinsburg’s parks, trails, programs and recreational amenities play an important role in our community. Your feedback helps form a better understanding of how parks are used, what amenities are most valued and where resources should be allocated.

E-Bike Safety

E-bike safety remains a concern. I’ve experienced and observed a several instances of high risk, dangerous and inappropriate e-bike usage.  City council passed an ordinance to address this issue. Twinsburg Police Department launched a e-bike registration and awareness campaign. Registering a bicycle is a quick process and free.

Report streetlight issues:

First Energy no longer employs municipal liaisons. This has resulted in decreased service specific to streetlight maintenance.
