Ward One's Annual Information Day
I continue to canvass every street in Ward One monthly. During the warmer months, I use an E-Bike because the slower pace and open air allow me to observe things that are easily missed when driving a car. Being out in our neighborhoods also is an opportunity to connect with familiar faces and welcome new ones.
Temporary Prohibition on Directional Drilling
There was a severe underground utility accident in neighboring Twinsburg Township. Because of this incident, all directional drilling within the city is strictly prohibited for the foreseeable future.
Per the Fire Chief's report to the Safety Committee, independent investigations are currently being conducted by:
The State Fire Marshal
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
The PUCO (Public Utilities Commission of Ohio)
Before any directional drilling activity is permitted to resume, these investigations must be fully completed. Additionally, Mayor Sam, city officials, and department heads will meet with all parties involved in utility installation work prior to lifting the restriction.
While directional drilling is suspended, other types of excavation may still be legally marked and active. If you want to identify who is digging on your street, an interactive map to search open tickets near you is available .

Click “Search” under Near Tickets.
View the individual dig sites highlighted on the map.
Click on “View Details”.
Review the ticket information, including a direct contact number under “Excavator Info”.
Committed to Safety: The Mayor has assured me the City of Twinsburg will do everything possible to ensure safety within the guidelines of State, County, and PUCO regulations governing public rights-of-way and residential utility easement areas. The safety of our community is the top priority, I will share updates as more information becomes available.
Reporting Streetlight Outages
Due to resource decisions at FirstEnergy, a dedicated contact tracking non-functioning streetlights. The best option available is to report individual outages.
If a streetlight near you is dark, flickering, damaged or not working properly please report it directly using one of these methods:
By Phone: Call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) and say “streetlight” after the automated greeting.
Online: Submit a report via: www.firstenergycorp.com/content/customer/service_requests/report-lighting-problem.html.html
When filing a report, please have the following details ready:
• Your name and phone number (to help if clarification is needed).
• The specific address or nearest cross-street of the light pole.
• The unique identification number printed on the utility pole.
• A brief description of the issue (e.g., damaged pole, broken fixture, light stays off at night, or light flickers).
New Residential Parking Regulations
The City's Service Department has nearly completed the installation of updated parking signs throughout our residential areas. Please keep these standard rules in mind to keep our streets clear and safe:
No parking on the fire hydrant side of the street.
No parking within any cul-de-sac.
No parking city-wide between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
No parking on any city street when snowfall exceeds 2 inches.
E-Bikes
Mandatory E-Bike Registration Program
On May 26th City Council approved legislation requiring the registration of E-Bikes. This proactive action follows an uptick in resident complaints and several accidents requiring emergency responses from the Twinsburg Fire Department.
Registration is entirely free and simple.
Registration helps the Twinsburg Police Department:
Document legal ownership of the bike.
Catalog accurate records including make, model, color, and serial number.
Quickly return recovered or stolen e-bikes to their rightful owners.
Because a significant majority of reported safety concerns and accidents have involved younger riders, this legislation and registration framework places a strong emphasis on parental responsibility.
Community & First Responder Highlights
Neighbors in Need – Woodlands Relief Effort
In response to the explosion and home fires in Twinsburg Township, the City of Twinsburg partnered with the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Twinsburg to launch a dedicated relief fund.
Over $30,000 has been donated to support the affected families. To ensure that every single penny reached those who need it most, the Twinsburg Rotary Club generously stepped up by providing over $2,000 to cover web hosting and credit card transaction fees. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this vital effort.
Fire, Police, and CERT Emergency Responses
Twinsburg’s Safety Forces faced a demanding few months, frequently responding to multiple critical calls at the exact same time.
Twinsburg’s CERT Team (Community Emergency Response Team) was activated multiple times to manage traffic control and to safely escort people into and out of hazardous zones. These local volunteers allowed our police officers and firefighters to stay focused on their core operations.

Ward One Business Updates
I continue to stay actively engaged with our Twinsburg business community, particularly our new independent owners. Commercial occupancy within Ward One remains incredibly strong, with only a few vacant retail storefronts.
Anticipated business openings in Twinsburg:
Pelican’s SnoBalls: The long-anticipated opening of this popular sweet spot is expected any day now! Check out their menu and location details at Pelican's SnoBalls Twinsburg.
Heritage Coffee: Mark your calendars! Heritage Coffee is officially scheduled to open its doors on July 30 at 9224 Darrow Road, moving into the space formerly occupied by Old Joe Coffee.
Outdoor Weather Sirens
Twinsburg’s outdoor emergency warning sirens are tested monthly by the Twinsburg safety forces and CERT to help ensure they are functioning properly. When issues are identified, repairs are made as quickly as possible to maintain the system’s reliability.
Residents are also encouraged to enable emergency and severe weather alerts on their cell phones and smart devices, as these notifications provide timely information and can be an important supplement to the outdoor warning sirens, especially when indoors or away from home.
Other community highlights
TheEnvironmental Commission’s Community Shredding Event. This event helps residents by diverting 9 tons of paper from the landfill and protecting residents by shredding sensitive information.
America’s 250 Celebration:
Mr. Post, Mr. Furey and I served about 600 slices of the USA’s birthday cake to residents and visitors before the start of Rock the Park. It was a fun way to celebrate our nation’s birthday.
Safety Town returned in 2026
Data Centers
Building upon comments made in my last update, I attended Mr. Castillo’s recent Community Conversation, featuring two residents resented information regarding data centers. This was an opportunity to hear detailed concerns and expectations from engaged residents firsthand.
As a reminder, during our April 14th, 2026 meeting, City Council passed Ordinance 2026-065, which established a 12-month moratorium on data centers in the city. That moratorium remains firmly in place. Going forward, I commit to use every tool available to me as a member of City Council to keep data centers out of Twinsburg.
